Eric J. Weiss, CFP®


Eric J. Weiss is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practicioner and serves as Brightscape's Chief Executive Officer. Prior to founding the company Mr. Weiss directed the business development activities of J. P. Morgan Chase's Global Asset Management and Private Bank Division in northern Latin America. Previously, Mr. Weiss was the senior executive responsible for Citicorp's mergers and acquisitions, public debt and leveraged capital financings in the Caribbean and Central American region. Mr. Weiss earned his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago where he interned at the Center for Research in Security Prices (Chicago, IL) under the direction of Professor Myron Scholes, a recent Nobel prize recipient for his work in option pricing. Prior to his studies at Chicago, Mr. Weiss earned an M.A. in economics from Columbia University where he wrote his thesis under the direction of Robert Mundell a recent Nobel price recipient for his work in international monetary economics. Mr. Weiss holds a Series 65 investment advisor license, is a member of Rotary International and an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Miami. In his spare time he enjoys running, tennis, gardening and college football.

EVP, Chief Operating Officer

Taylor M. Gang

Mr. Gang is Brightscape's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer responsible for overseeing the firm's day to day operations, sales, franchise sales, brand strategy and marketing. Mr. Gang also serves as Chairman of the Brightscape Oversight Committee, responsible for firm compliance. Prior to joining Brightscape, Mr. Gang served as an Account Manager at Integrity Interactive Corporation Inc., a leading Ethics and Compliance Services company, from July of 2000 through March of 2004. While at integrity Interactive, Mr. Gang worked with senior management at companies ranging in size from Fortune 1000 to Fortune 10 to design and implement corporate compliance programs, specializing in enterprise-wide solutions within the financial services, pharmaceutical, agricultural, communications, energy, fuel, manufacturing, medical devices, pipeline services and waste management industries. Mr. Gang holds a Series 65 investment advisor license, is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and is currently training for his CFP® certification at the University of Miami. Outside of work, he is an avid sports fan who also enjoys composing classical music and restoring antique houses.

Mel J. Marten, CFA

A Chartered Financial Analyst, Mr. Marten brings in-depth experience in investments and the brokerage industry to Brightscape. Prior to joining Brightscape, Mr. Marten spent over a decade as a partner with Edward Jones, helping the firm triple in size as it became one of the five largest firms by number of brokers. Most recently, he was a Senior Market Analyst, writing economic research and helping supervise and compliance review the firms's Equity Research. Prior to that, he was ranked a top Equity Analyst by the Wall Street Journal and widely featured on CNBC, CNN, and other major media. Mr. Marten also has previous Board experience, serving as a Director of Globalstreams.com. He has a dual degree in finance and accounting from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, where he attended as a National Merit Scholar. Mr. Marten holds the Series 7, 16, 63 and 87 securities licenses, and is a member of Mensa and the Miami CFA Society. For fun, he likes to travel and is currently training for the 2006 Florida Ironman.

 

Director

Thomas P. Noonan

Mr. Noonan joined Brightscape as a Director in 2005, bringing a wealth of experience and contacts within the banking industry to help the Company build its business with banks. Mr. Noonan served as General Manager for Citibank's business in France and Florida and was Division Executive for Citibank's business with major corporations in Latin America. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of BAC Florida Bank, a Coral Gables based institution specializing in Private Banking and Asset Management for non-U.S. residents. Mr. Noonan has also served as President of the Florida International Bankers Association. He is a graduate of Yale University, is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and French and holds a Series 7 general securities license.
